Your ORB - Representative of your literary period?

Why do you think that your ORB is representative of your literary period?

What elements reflect period themes or styles?

  1. Well there where several different issues during the Civil War era and Hawthorne begins the book with the idea of finding Utopia and making a difference in the world.

  2. It is the time period where mass media really started to "blossom", as it were. I don't think much but the style of writing reflects the time period.

  3. poe is really creepy and romantism is kinda a renassiance type periord so they can have weird people writing about ripping a cats eye out.

  4. I think The Outsiders represents a big part of my time period. Gangs, mobsters and groups like the mafia were a big part, and controlled pretty much everything for a while.

  5. I think that the book I have gotten for my literary period is perfect for it. My literary period is around the time that slavery was abolished. In Mark Twains writing he uses slang, as the slaves did. I think that he opened a new kind of writing for authors.

  7. Poe was an awsome poet and an even better story teller. I think he was really disturbed.

  10. Reading The autobiography of benjimen franklin is tough because of the style of writing they had back in that time. The thoughts are little different too because they did not know as much about things that they do now.I think my book is perfect because its like the only real book I can read that is exaclty like how they talked and thought.

  11. Since i have modernism, which is from 1910-1930, I'm reading the Great Gatsby. So far it goes into a little detail on the mass immagration in New York City, which is a major movement of that time.
