Plagiarism v. Inspiration

What is the difference between plagiarism and inspiration?

In your poem or lyric exercise would you say that you were inspired by an original work or did you plagiarize the work?

  1. plagiarism is where you are using somebody's work word for word with out giving them credit or making a bibliography saying that you used the reference.

inspiration is where you see somebody's work that makes you think of other things to either add on to that original idea, or make something totally new from that.

There were some lines in the song that I used that were the same, but then the other lines i was inspired to change the song into a parody and make it like the opposite.

  2. plagiarism is when you take someone else's work and you dont give them credit for it or anything.
where as insperation is where you can look at someone else's work and you get ideas of other things and you put them into your work or while your reading their paper you see a line that you like you use thats not plagiarism but yeah inspiration is your own work.

  3. To me plagiarism is when you take something and pass it off as your own.
But inspiration is when you put your own opinions into that peice.
If your take someone elses work but you put your own opinions into it,that makes that peice yours it is not palagarised.(in my opinion)

  4. Plagiarism is taking exactly what they said or did and placing it in your own work. Where with inspiration some words might be the same and the idea but you have put your own thoughts and fillings into it. In the poem that I wrote I didn't use any of the same words but the meaning behind was similar to what inspired me.

  5. The difference is the pliagarising is copying the original work but inspired is when you use some of the same concepts but change it into another way. The line is very thin and hard to define. The lyric project was in my opinion more inspired than plaigarised. A lot of songs now a days are inspired from earlier songs.

  6. i don't think i did. because i took one line. and maybe the writer had a different meaning for that line than i did. so i chose one line. and than made 20 of my own lines.

  7. Plagarism is someone who knowingly took someone else's work (and put their name on it pretty much). Inspiration is when you llok at someone else's work, and get ideas off of it.

  8. Plagarism is stealing someones work and not giving them credit for it. Inspiration is using someone elses work to help yourself come up with ideas for your own work.
I've never copied any of my work from someone elses, its just not my ideas.

  9. Plagarism is bad. Inspiration good. citing your work makes it not plagarism.
